This briefing note is intended to equip Global Sentinels with the knowledge needed to join the campaign calling on Canada (and other countries) to sustain and restore ambitious investments in ODA. Ahead of every budget, the Government of Canada invites domestic partners to submit briefing notes to advise on what should be in the upcoming budget and why. For Budget 2025, we submitted the following one page brief on why Canada should increase investment in official development assistance to at least 0.4% of gross national income, representing approximately 12 billion in budget 2025/2026.

OTTAWA, June 16, 2025 – This morning, activists gathered on Parliament Hill to stage a symbolic “die-in” for the millions of people whose lives are at risk due to drastic cuts to global aid.
