BUDGET 2026

Ahead of every budget, the Government of Canada invites domestic partners to submit briefing notes to advise on what should be in the upcoming budget and why. For Budget 2026, we submitted the following brief on why Canada should increase investment in official development assistance (ODA) to at least 0.4% of gross national income (GNI), representing approximately $12 billion, and commit to a predictable, time-bound pathway to 0.7% of GNI, in line with Canada’s longstanding international commitment.
