Other high-income countries are making short sighted and deadly decisions to cut Official Development Assistance (ODA). ODA is an investment high-income countries (HICs) like Canada have long committed to making to support health, education, infrastructure, economic and social support systems and more in lower income countries. With a federal budget coming up in the fall, the Government of Canada must buck this deadly trend to save lives abroad, drive exports, and protect Canadians by creating a safer, healthier and more stable and prosperous world for all.

This briefing note is intended to equip Global Sentinels with the knowledge needed to join the campaign calling on Canada (and other countries) to sustain and restore ambitious investments in ODA. Read on to understand the campaign ask, why this campaign matters and makes sense, who the decision makers we need to target in Canada are, and how we will engage them in a multi-month campaign culminating with the 2025 Fall Budget.
